1979/80 was a transitional time for both Land Rover & Mclaren;
For Mclaren, the dominant James Hunt/M26 years were now over and this period would see the team struggle until Ron Dennis later took over and began the prolific MP4 years.
For Land Rover, the Stage-1 V8 introduced new features to the Defender that would be carried forward into the now formidable 90/110 range.Both vehicles heralded varying degrees of success for each company, but both were certainly very important to the future development of each.
Here, the 2 vehicles take part in a press event to promote the two new vehicles, along with some 'subtle' advertising from Marlboro. Not something you would see in today's F1!
